Mangai Madam is situated at about 8 kms from Poompuhar, on the way from Sirkazhi to Poompuhar in Tamilnadu, India. This is one of the 5 Narasimha Shrines worshipped by Thirumangai Azhwar, one of the 12 Holy Saints of Vaishnavism.

Thirumangai Azhwar was the King of a small kingdom called “Thiruvaali” within the greater Chola Empire, more than 700 years ago. Mangai Madam was the Headquarters of Thiruvaali. He later got attracted by Vaishnavite Philosophy and performed “Thathiyaaradanai” (offered food) for 1001 people daily for one year before embracing Vaishnavism.

Veera Narasimha Perumal at Mangai Madam is one of the 5 Holy shrines of Lord Narasimha worshipped by Thirumangai Azhwar. The main deity at this temple is made of “Saligramam” and it is highly auspicious to perform “Thirumanjanam” (holy bath) to the deity here and offer free food.

Special Pujas, Homam and Sahasrakalasabhishekam are to be performed for Veera Narasimha Perumal at Mangai Madam on the day of Star “Swathi”. Free food or Prasad shall be offered after Sahasrakalasabhishekam.
